Dancing, Making Merry, and Protecting Casco Bay

It’s July, which means we’re setting sail this week for the inaugural cruise in the 2025 Cruising Casco Bay Concert Series! This is our annual series where on six evenings from July to September some of Maine’s most entertaining bands play aboard the Bay Mist as the sun sets over Casco Bay. The first two concerts have already sold out, so get your tickets here right now.

In our May blog we introduced the six bands and the deeply magical experience that unfolds on these live music cruises. Today we want to share the positive impact your partying will have on the well-being of Casco Bay.

One of our sponsors this year is the remarkable Maine startup, CLYNK. This organization is built on the idea that small actions, done consistently, can drive big change. Every bottle or can you drop off via CLYNK’s Bag Drop gets redeemed and contributes to a cleaner planet and a smarter recycling system. Founded in Maine in 2005, CLYNK laid its roots down here after Maine became the nation’s third bottle bill state. It’s now expanding across the U.S.

With CLYNK joining the party, every can or bottle you consume and discard while dancing to live music during this summer’s concert series will be redeemed. All income made by redeeming the cans and bottles will be donated to the Friends of Casco Bay. This is another world-changing organization you need to know, if you haven’t yet come across it.

Friends of Casco Bay was founded in 1989 when concerned citizens learned that the waters of Casco Bay were among the most polluted in the nation. Since then, they have launched influential programs such as a Water Quality Monitoring System run by their teams of amazingly dedicated volunteers. They’ve launched a Baykeeping Program to advocate for environmental solutions and have a Pumpout Service, to “help boaters be better stewards of our environment.” They have played a huge role in improving the quality of Casco Bay.

These partnerships are the latest in our efforts to build sustainability into our business processes. Our new vessel under construction, Battery Steele, will be one of the first public passenger ferries in the United States to utilize innovative, diesel-electric hybrid propulsion technology.

We’re honored to be partnering with CLYNK this year. Not only do they offer the most convenient, cleanest, and fastest way to redeem and recycle bottles and cans – but they share our commitment to sustainability through their work to keep valuable materials in use and out of the waste stream and out of Casco Bay. If there was ever a good reason to have a beer, this could be it.

Buy your tickets now! Two of the six concerts have sold out as of the time of writing this blog but check out our event page for the latest availability. Guests must be over 21 and because the venue is inside, every show will happen whether rain or shine.
