Please join Casco Bay Lines at an informational public meeting to discuss the proposed recommendations for the new vessel currently being designed for Peaks Island service. Representatives from Casco Bay Lines will be present on March 7 at 10:15 AM at Peaks Island Elementary School to provide an update on the current status of proposed vessel design recommendations. A short presentation will be made, followed by an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide feedback.
As of February 2020, the vessel design process remains in the preliminary stages. The vessel designer has completed their analysis and compiled their comprehensive recommendations, including size, capacity, hull shape and propulsion with the evaluation of various hull configurations and propulsion systems, in the form of a Preliminary Design Report (PDR). Casco Bay Lines will present the PDR to the public at this public meeting. Following the public meeting, the PDR, along with public comments, will be presented to the vessel advisory committee and then the Board, for their consideration. Should the Board approve the PDR, the preliminary portion of the vessel design process will be considered complete and final design work will begin. There will be another opportunity for public input at the completion of final design followed by a Board vote. Casco Bay Lines strongly encourages public participation at all stages.
