Machigonne Going Offline During Upcoming Transfer Bridge Repairs on Peaks Island

As a reminder, the Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) will begin scheduled repairs of their Peaks Island transfer bridge on February 8th. DOT estimates the work will take approximately 12 weeks to complete. CBITD has coordinated with DOT to send the Machigonne to the shipyard during this time for her routine dry dock and Coast Guard hull inspection.

Lionel Plante Associates (LPA) will be providing vehicle transportation to and from Peaks Island on a scheduled, yet limited, basis. The alternative vehicle schedule is included below, can be viewed here on our website, will be posted on the vessels, and is available in the terminal. Please note, due to COVID-19, we are running more service than we normally would during the Machigonne’s biennial trip to the shipyard. LPA will be running their larger vessel so capacity per trip will also be increased and vehicles will be loaded on a first come, first served basis. Reservations can still be made for commercial vehicles through Casco Bay Lines.

CBITD passenger service will operate on the regular sailing schedule on an alternate CBITD vessel.
